Octocom was contracted by a large civil engineering company to design, construct and implement the satellite communications infrastructure and entertainment facilities for a newly commissioned mining project in the Pilbara.
The scope of our work included the supply and installation of the following:
- GPON System – fibre distribution network that provides data, phone and TV services to each room. Remote monitoring capability was also provided.
- MATV – supplied Foxtel and standard digital channels to each room, utilising HD signals for optimal results.
- VOIP PABX – integrated into GPON system to provide telephone extensions for mine site workers and administration staff.
- Wireless 900MHz links – uses Freewave product to create an IP link between key camp infrastructure.
Part of the contract included a preventative maintenance program whereby all mine site vehicles and existing RF infrastructure were tested and repaired/replaced as required.
