SPOT satellite messenger now even smaller… and more versatile
SPOT, the rugged, compact satellite messenger introduced in 2008 has now been made even smaller.

Rugged and simple to use, the SPOT 2 is 30% smaller and lighter than the original unit and offers additional custom messaging modes. It has a “message sending” indicator light so the user knows the message is on its way.

Other new features include a dedicated TRACKING button and a dedicated pre programmable CUSTOM MESSAGE button. The old 911 button is now more appropriately names SOS. Finally a protective cover is placed over the SOS button to prevent accidental
alarms being set off.

SPOT is a lifesaving device designed to improve personal safety for the many people who spend time in the outdoors – whether for recreation, work or daily life.

With the push of a button, SPOT can transmit a user’s exact location and message to friends, family or co-workers to request help, track their location, or just keep in touch. Contact can also be made with a 000 emergency call centre should the need arise.

For WA companies that employ workers who are required to travel far and wide, this offers an effective low cost way of protecting people, whether they’re out in the field or driving a truck, particularly in areas outside the range of cellular and other wireless communications.

Because SPOT sends a user’s exact GPS satellite location over a commercial satellite network, it works in much of the world regardless of cellular coverage.Family, friends and employers can easily view messages and track locations using the SPOT Web service which includes Google Maps technology.
